Why does the Media broadcast the same news?

just an example, but their are lots of missing children across the nation, so why does little bobbie get all the news for days? If you channel from abc to nbc or CNN, you’ll see the same storys and probably in the same order. Is the Media controlled? or do they simple get the storys from the same sources, or does it really matter?

I’ve wondered and asked about this many times with no satisfying answer (yet). Of the BILLIONS of stories that happen, the same handful get covered at the same time by every single media outlet – from a robbery that makes national headlines out of thousands to an international story out of thousands of others so I still don’t get it :) Even newspapers will have the same headline stories on the same day, and if you flip from one news channel to another even local news, they will ALL be covering the same exact stories even though there are thousands of different local events that go on.

Because everyone has different preferences and you can’t watch more than one channel at once.

they like to focus on one thing so they can blow it out of proportion and make it seem worse than it is. so if they focus on it for a couple days or even a week, it gets more attention. they can’t make anything look bad unless they keep broadcasting the same thing over and over again.

I think the Media picks the most controversial news and airs it, over and over again, till something more controversial comes up. People will watch that kind of news, and TV stations are trying to capture the most ratings.
    Simple as that.

Most news sources get their information from the Associated Press. They don’t have the time to worry about national stories, so they take their cues from experts.

In local news, the radio and television stations usually take their cues from the newspapers — again, a matter of manpower.

You bet the media is controlled. This is an example:

Have you not discovered the link of Union media and Union Hollywood and Union Print media to a Union candidate (Democrat).

Obama is a "Unionizer". Hollywood and the media have collaborated to be his public relations agent. We are now living in a world of corrupt media and government that is perpetuating a groupthink.

(mold the young and they are yours) – Union Bands, singers, teachers, Union writers (textbooks, newspapers, magazines) a kid today is spoonfed from the time the start kindergarten,

George Orwell’s "1984" where Winston says he won’t become "one of them", and slowly slips into braindead. Welcome to now.
