Ten year old Marco Calasan from Skopje, Macedonia has been dubbed the Mozart of Computers by local press after becoming the worlds youngest IT Professional when he passed the Microsoft Certified System Administrator exam.Going On 10, Boy Going For Fifth Microsoft Certification
Say Hello to Marko Calasan. He’s nine years old and lives in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He’s also Microsoft Certified four times over and working on his fifth certificate. (And he prefers Bing.)

This is the type of story that warms your heart but also makes you feel a little bad about yourself. Why? Because still in his single digits, Marko is more computer literate than many of us will ever be. Here he describes his first memories of using a computer:

But my first memory is from when I was approximately 3 years old when I was making simple actions like personalizing Windows, then installing Windows, making remote desktop connections with workstations and servers on remote locations, and so on.
As someone who still struggles to get remote desktop working, that hurts. But still, good for the little guy, who has earned four certificates—MCP, MCDST, MCSA and MCSE—and is going for his fifth to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer. When asked about his plans for the next ten years, Calasan said he hoped to write Windows 7 instructional books for users of all levels. He also said that Bing is his preferred search engine.

When asked if he preferred Windows or OSX, Calasan held back from indulging his literal inner fanboy, explaining, “For everyone, the choice is different, so for me I use Windows because I am satisfied with its security, stability, scalability, productivity and many other good advantages of the Microsoft Windows operating system.”

That diplomatic reponse to the enduring operating system debate might be an even more impressive display of precociousness than his certificates. [Network World]

According to a report in the Times last week, Microsoft presented Marko with games and DVDs after he’d passed the exams, and although he considered it a nice gesture, he said he wasn’t “really interested in those things.”

Marko, who has a bent for mathematics and physics, was reading and writing by the time he was two years old, and by four he was speaking in English. In a video posted on YouTube (Macedonian), Marko explains that computing is a simple matter of mathematics and following instructions.

This simple understanding has made him into something of a local celebrity who has since been offered his own IT lab by the Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski.

Marko’s parents plan to publish a book for small children about computing based on Marko’s experience and success.

An Air France plane carrying 228 people from Brazil to France has vanished over the Atlantic after a possible lightning strike, airline officials say.

The Airbus sent an automatic message at 0214 GMT, four hours after leaving Rio de Janeiro, reporting a short circuit as it flew through strong turbulence.

It was well over the ocean when it was lost, making Brazilian and French search planes’ task more difficult.

“The plane might have been struck by lightning – it’s a possibility,” Francois Brousse, head of communications at Air France, told reporters in Paris.

France’s minister responsible for transportation, Jean-Louis Borloo, ruled out hijacking as a cause of the plane’s loss.

Flight AF 447 left Rio at 1900 local time (2200 GMT) on Sunday. It had 216 passengers and 12 crew on board, including three pilots. The passengers included one infant, seven children, 82 women and 126 men.

Details of the passengers’ nationalities were not being released immediately but it is believed that a number of Italians and Britons are among the French people and Brazilians aboard.

‘Long search’

The Airbus 330-200 had been expected to arrive in Paris at 1110 local time (0910 GMT).

It is reported to have disappeared 300km (186 miles) north-east of the Brazilian city of Natal.

Brazilian air force spokesman Col Henry Munhoz told Brazilian TV it had not been picked up by radar on the Cape Verde Islands on its way across the Atlantic, and confirmed that Brazilian air force planes had left Fernando de Noronha to search for the missing airliner.

A French military plane also flew out of Senegal to take part in the search.

Mr Borloo said the airliner would already have run out of fuel.

“Nothing on Spanish radar, nothing on Moroccan radar, nothing on French radar – we seriously have to fear the worst,” he added.

Douglas Ferreira Machado, head of investigation and accident prevention for Brazil’s Civil Aeronautics Agency, said the search would take “a long time”.

“It could be a long, sad story,” he told Brazil’s Globo news. “The black box will be at the bottom of the sea.”

An Air France spokeswoman said there had been no radio contact with the plane “for a while”.

PRESS CONFERENCE IN BRAZIL:

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he fears there may have been British citizens on board the French jet which has disappeared over the Atlantic.

Flight AF 447 left Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, bound for Paris, at 1900 local time (2200 GMT) on Sunday 31 May.

More than half of U.S. companies and nearly three-quarters of foreign operations doing business here in the U.S. paid no federal income taxes for at least one year out of eight. That coming to us from a new government study.

The report says the companies avoided taxes through operating losses, tax credits, and by shifting income to no-tax countries. A Newmarket, Ontario father, Stephen Watkins, has been searching for his missing children abducted to Europe for 7 months for his two abducted missing children, Alexander & Christopher Watkins in this incredible and sad International Parental Child Abduction story from Canada.

The biological father, Stephen Watkins, was awarded Final Sole Custody of the children by the Canadian Courts on January 26, 2009 after the children were apprehended by the Catholic Children Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS) on November 2007 over mental / physical abuse caused by the children’s mother. The boys were placed in the Sole Custody Care of Stephen Watkins by the CCAS and Courts in December 2007 as he already had a Joint Custody Order issued on February 16, 2006.

The children have both been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder resulting of the care they received and Alexander, the oldest son, has been diagnosed with High Functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder which has been denounced by the child’s mother in previous Court proceedings.

A few weeks after the January 26th Court Ruling , Alexander WATKINS (7 yrs) and Christopher WATKINS (4 yrs) were abducted by Edyta Ustaszewski Watkins (non-custodial mother) and her father, Tadeusz Ustaszewski, during the weekend of March 6 2009, on a Court Ordered weekend access.

The children were driven into the US by the maternal grandfather and the children’s non-custodial mother to catch a flight to Germany using Canadian Passports issued to the children who were Ordered by the Courts to be turned over multiple times and with the use of an adult SUSPENDED Canadian Passport used by the mother.

The adult passport was confirmed suspended 42 days prior to the abduction by Ontario’s Family Responsibility Office (FRO) due to Provincial Enforcement Actions.

The father is being assisted in Canada by CHILD FIND ONTARIO, case director Terry Smith, MISSING CHILDREN SOCIETY OF CANADA, case director Barb Snider and two online organizations, HELP FIND MY CHILD and FOREVER SEARCHING.

The father is SEEKING HELP FROM THE PUBLIC to locate these children who have been abducted from CANADA to EUROPE and possibly to the country of Poland.

York Regional Police may believe that the children may be taken into Poland where the mother was originally born although this has not been confirmed.

York Regional Police has issued a Canada-wide Arrest Warrant and the Ontario / Canadian Government has issued a RED NOTICE on Interpol for the world wide apprehension of Edyta (Ustaszewski) Watkins.

Both children have been flagged on Interpol with world wide YELLOW NOTICES for information on their whereabouts.

Alexander WATKINS and Christopher WATKINS have still not been located and are ABDUCTED / MISSING CHILDREN in Poland, Germany or Austria and Europe.
